TELEVISION SERVICES RATE
SHEET FOR VIDEO SERVICES

JULY 2001

NORTHERN ARIZONA UNIVERSITY HAS DIVIDED SATELLITE, MICROWAVE, AND RELATED VIDEO SERVICES INTO THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:

CATEGORY I

ON-CAMPUS USERS: Any official, State supported department of the University. These clients pay for their portion of costs by department funds TRANSFER. Each will have 80% of subsidizable costs forgiven, but will pay 100% of direct costs, such as stock costs for video cassettes used for recording, or contracted services performed by non-NAU and non-subsidized NAU personnel. If the production and/or use of transmission media results in the earning of NAU academic credit coordinated by the Dean of Statewide Academic Programs, only direct costs are charged.

DIRECT COSTS INCLUDE BUT MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Graphics (computer), Photographs, Slides, Video Tapes, Audio Tapes, Music Rights, Vehicle Rental, Travel Expenses (per diem and lodging), Student Operators. Estimates for direct costs can be supplied for each project upon request. In all cases, copyrights are held by NAU.

CATEGORY II

ON-CAMPUS SPONSORS OF OFF-CAMPUS CLIENTS: An on-campus sponsor will pay all subsidizable costs at the rate of 50% forgiven and 50% chargeback when the on-campus sponsor has an ACTIVE role in providing the service or participating in the production. Direct costs are charged at 100%, AND ARE NOT SUBSIDIZABLE. An example of this category might be Continuing Education hosting and conducting a national teleconference for the medical profession, wherein fees are charged for attendance or payment is received from outside sources. Another example would be any presentation of Continuing Education Units (CEU's) through the Dean of Continuing Education. All payments to NAU TV Services are accomplished through departmental transfer.

Copyright clearance and provider fees are the responsibility of the on-campus sponsor. All productions created for or in cooperation with an on-campus sponsor will be copyrighted as "Northern Arizona University," and using the examples above, a sub-title would include "Continuing Education." If the product and copyright accrue to the off-campus client, the client and sponsor do not qualify for this category or for University subsidy through NAU Television Services (see below).

CATEGORY III

OFF-CAMPUS CLIENTS: Any governmental agency or not-for-profit (IRS 501-c-3) organization that may have an affiliation with an on-campus department, but where the department does not directly participate (commit its own State resources by direct assignment of time and/or funds), may contract with NAU TV Services, but without the benefit of institutional subsidy. These and all other off-campus clients pay 100% of the rates established (including overhead where applicable). All payments are to be made to "NAU Television Services" within 30 days of project completion.
In these cases, NAU is employed under the "work-for-hire" principle, and copyrights are applied for and held by the client. All entrepreneurial ventures are covered under a separate policy and rate schedule.

NAU CANCELLATION POLICY

CANCELLATIONS are required at least 72 hours in advance of the scheduled services to avoid charges, otherwise cancellation charges are as follows: 48 hours...25%; 24 hours...50%; SAME DAY...100% of contracted budget.

All clients are required to pay earnest money of 30% of total contract prior to the start of production; 40% at the start of post-production; and 30% upon completion. Prices are subject to change without notice.

All satellite transponder time is billed in full prior to production and is NON-REFUNDABLE.

NAUNET
NAU MICROWAVE SYSTEM

NAUNet consists of duplex (two-way) microwave circuits enabling users to participate in fully interactive video, audio, and data activities. The network has two hubs (switching centers): NAUNet-North, located in Flagstaff on the NAU campus at Master Control, room 235, Art and Design building; NAUNet-South, located in Phoenix at American Television Relay's central headquarters at 28th Ave and Indian School. NAU can originate live shots from Master Control only. Other shots may be arranged as long as the client can provide a signal, 1.0 V p/p AND 0DB @ 600 ohms, to NAU Master Control.
For further information and scheduling, please contact the Associate Director for Network Services at (520) 523-9402.

The following rates are limited to services provided in conjunction with the use of NAU microwave and/or satellite transmission and reception. Weekend hours are subject to overtime labor costs.
